Satellite Guide: when Arab satellite TV took off

· 2 min read

In the early 1990s, as Arab satellite channels launched, we founded the first specialized satellite media magazine from the Kingdom to the Arab world.

In the early 1990s, the Arab viewer's relationship with television changed. Arab satellite channels appeared, and many homes now had a dish and a receiver that needed tuning and knowledge of frequencies.

The need for a reference

Viewers needed someone to tell them which channels were available and on which frequencies, which equipment suited them, and what was new in a fast-moving world. That was the idea behind Satellite Guide.

The first magazine of its kind

World Sound & Vision founded the magazine as the first specialized satellite media magazine launched from the Kingdom to the Arab world. It offered channel frequency updates, reviews of the latest receiver technology and coverage of satellite and entertainment news.

Its legacy

The magazine became a reference for Arab viewers and audio-visual enthusiasts. Today it is part of the story of a company founded in 1986 that has continued in broadcast, production and archiving ever since.
